What legal stuff do we need to do?

To get legally married in Australia, you need to complete and lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) with me, your authorised celebrant, at least one full month before your ceremony date. The NOIM is valid for up to 18 months. You’ll also need to provide original ID documents to prove your identity, date and place of birth, and marital status. What documents do I need to provide?

You’ll need to provide proof of your birth (usually a passport or birth certificate), proof of identity (passport or driver’s licence), and if applicable, proof your previous marriage has ended (divorce or death certificate). It’s easiest to provide these when you lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) with me, but it’s not mandatory. Just make sure I have them before your ceremony.

Do we need witnesses?

Yes, you’ll need two witnesses over the age of 18 to be present at your ceremony and sign the paperwork. They can be friends, family, or even a couple of friendly locals if you’re eloping — I can help with that if needed!

Do you offer a Legals Only Ceremony?

Absolutely! For $400, this is a short, sweet, no-fuss option for couples who just want to make it official. We’ll meet beforehand (in person or on Zoom) to complete the legal paperwork — including your NOIM — then on the day, it’s just the two of you, two witnesses, and the 124 essential words. I’ll take care of all the legal lodgements. Available within 25km of Cairns — easy, meaningful, and legally done!

Do you do weddings outside Cairns?

While I'm based in beautiful Cairns, I’m more than happy to travel for your special day. From Port Douglas and Palm Cove to the Atherton Tablelands, Mission Beach, or wherever love takes you — if I can get there, I’ll be there. Travel fees may apply for locations outside of my local area, but I’ll always be upfront about those details. Let’s chat about your dream location!

Can we get married sooner than one month?

In most cases, couples must lodge their Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) at least one month before the wedding. But if you have special circumstances — like travel, illness, or work commitments — you may be able to apply for a Shortening of Time through a prescribed authority (like a magistrate or registrar).

Is there a booking fee?

A booking fee of 50% of the total ceremony fee is required to confirm your booking. Please note, your date is only secured once this fee is received, no holds without payment. The booking fee is due within 7 days of receiving your invoice or confirmation email.

How long is a Ceremony?

Around 20 minutes, just the right length to keep everyone engaged while sharing something meaningful. Think of it like a favourite song, memorable, heartfelt, and perfectly paced to create a beautiful moment without any extra filler.

Do you provide any setup or styling?

Nope — I don’t bring any furniture or styling items. I’m here for the love, the legalities, and the good vibes! But if you need a signing table or anything else styled, I know some fab local vendors who can help. Just let me know and I’ll point you in the right direction.
